Sneak Peek into The Second Arrow

Book Coming out in April!

So, I started this book in June of 2019 and it is finally going to come out into the world. I’m excited!! Here’s my first installment post of a “sneak peek” into the book.

First, about the title.  This quote appears on one of my opening pages.

“Losing someone you love is the first arrow. You feel acute pain of loss and sorrow. But worrying, being anxious, or succumbing to despair are like the second arrow…Our guilt, remorse, and regrets are the second arrow we often fire at ourselves.”

                                                                                                                              —Thich Nhat Hanh

And to give you a general idea about this book, here’s part of the back cover’s text:

When the news comes by phone of her 37-year-old daughter’s suicide, Roberta’s world doesn’t seem real. Seventeen years prior, her younger daughter Lisa perished in a horrific car accident. The deep sadness of that loss persisted for many years and Roberta was just starting to feel like her old self.

Suzanne had struggled with the disease of addiction and she went out angry. Roberta is left with complicated feelings of fear, guilt, remorse, and shame, which won’t go away. She sinks into a dark place, which scares her into seeking help.

This book is a story about a relationship between a mother and her daughters, that continues even after their deaths.  It is a journey of letting go, of self-forgiveness as a conscious choice, in order to live.

Some flowers and fruit to welcome spring!
